2004 RESULTS

9-26-04 - Husets Speedway - National Cheaters Day Championship -  Put 2 barrel carb back on for the big feature.  Started 4th and finished 2nd.  Was a great run on a dry track.  Ran the whole race with LF bouncing off the inside berm.  Most of the race I was all by myself on the bottom.  I had nothing for the winner who started on the pole, but I was well ahead of the 3rd place car.  Great race considering my 2 barrel carb, solid cam, steel headed,  6 year old sportsman motor.   That will be it for racing this year.  2005 will be an all out late model street stock effort.  Stay tuned..........

9-25-04 - Husets Speedway - National Cheaters Day Qualifier #2 - My newly installed 3 link/panhard bar setup got so bound up during hot laps, it required removing every bolt on the rearend to remove the bars.  In a big rush, we installed the original 4 link setup and made our heat race with about 2 minutes to spare.  Started 5th and finished 3rd in heat.  Borrowed alky 4 barrel carb ran like crap.  Started and finished 6th in the feature. Race went GWC.  Carb still ran like crap.

9-24-04 - Husets Speedway - National Cheaters Day Qualifier #1 - Too wet. Cancelled.

9-17-04 - Rapid Speedway -  Championship nite.  Rained out and cancelled.  No Womens on Wheels race this year.   Aimee still undefeated.

9-11-04 - Husets Speedway -  Championship nite.  Won heat again.  Started 6th in feature and was passing for 2nd when he got loose and got turned into me and I hit the wall hard.  Car and motor were great.  Had about 45 minutes before the 30 lap pit stop dash for Cash race.  Luckily the car was not hurt too bad and everyone went to work and pitched in on the car.  Had it ready to go with about 5 minutes to spare.  DASH FOR CASH RACE ------12 cars, I started 7th.  Got to 2nd place early and then lost a spot one lap before the pit stop caution, went into the pits 3rd and came out 3rd, moved right into 2nd place again and maintained that until 1 lap left and ended up with a 3rd place finish.  Ran in 2nd for 24 of the 30 laps.  It was a great race for us.  Thanks to all the extra help in the pits tonite.

9-06-04 - Husets Speedway - Sertoma Race - Won heat and 7th in feature.  Motor ran great, wish car had been better.

9-05-04 - Husets Speedway - #6 will have a borrowed motor tonite from Don Bickett.  THANKS DON!!!   Update - Rained out, postponed until Saturday 9-11-04

9-03-04 - Rapid Speedway - NMRA Nationals -  Last Sundays rear gear problem also took its toll on the motor.  The valvetrain got damaged and it showed up tonite during the feature.  Motor will have to be checked and have bearings, not good considering the 30 lap, $6750 purse pit stop is in 2 days and I have no more motors.  What a crappy year.

8-29-04 - Husets Speedway - Rear gears came apart during the feature and wrecked alot of crap, driveshaft, transmission and other stuff.  Hope the motors OK.

8-27-04 - Rapid Speedway - Won heat and 4th in feature.

8-22-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - 2nd in heat and 5th in the feature, had a poor start and lost a bunch of spots and then fought back hard to get back to 5th.

8-20-04 - Rapid Speedway - Street Stock! -  Finished 6th in the feature, good race, first time here with this car.

8-15-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - Started 14th, credited for 12th, was up to 8th or so and then valve cover gasket went out and smoked up the track.  Car ran great.

8-13-04 - Rapid Speedway -  Won heat and 3rd in feature, but hey, at least I finished!  Last race in this car, it has been sold!

8-06-04 - Rapid Speedway - Another DNF, someone else's crash again.  Will have to replace the front bars again.

7-30-04 - Rapid Speedway - Another DNF....... Unbelievable!

7-25-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - 2nd in heat and 6th in feature, car was fast but very tight, track was crap.  Still a very fun race. Thanks to CJ for his additional pit help on Sundays.

7-23-04 - Rapid Speedway - 2nd in heat, another DNF in feature, car was fast, race was a wreckfest, got involved in a couple of other peoples crashes and DNF due to a broken radiator cap.  Good run and accident avoidance by the #20 car of Mann.  Congrats to them.

7-18-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - 10th in feature, decent run for us, motor is better, car needs a little yet.

7-16-04 - Rapid Speedway - Won heat and second in the feature.

7-09-04 - Rapid Speedway - Won heat and finished 1/4 of a lap in the feature.  Got turned around in corner 1 and the big pile up was on.  I am getting used to this!

7-06-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - World of Outlaws Night - 3rd in heat. Started 8th and finished 8th in the feature.   Race went GWC.

7-04-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - 4th in heat and was running second in feature when the leader spun and collected me and with the tracks STUPID rule, all involved go the the rear, got back to 9th place.

7-03-04 - Lake County Speedway - Sportsman car - First trip to the north this year.  Got heat race finished and then....you guessed it...RAINED OUT!

7-02-04 - Rapid Speedway - RAIN OUT

6-27-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - Started 8th and finished 4th in heat and got a 6th place feature finish, very little passing on a dry track.  Everything went well though and can't wait until next Sunday.

6-25-04 - Rapid Speedway - DNF in feature, blew up the motor and then got punted into the front straightaway wall resulting in heavy front end damage.  Our dismal year at Rock Rapids continues.........Also, ran the 5k street stock tonite (with a 6 on it), and had a great time driving that car, started 6th in the heat and finished 2nd with poor running motor, started passing cars early in feature when the trans coupler let go on lap #2.......

6-18-04 - Rapid Speedway - 4th in feature.  Race went GWC with the #20 car dominant.  That will be the last time that happens:-)

6-13-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - Did not finish heat as tranny did not want to stay in gear. Made repairs and started 16th in the feature and finished 8th.  Passed alot of cars and had a top 5 finish until the white flag lap when a car spun out in front the #6 car and we lost a few spots.

6-11-04 - Rapid Speedway - Flat tire in heat race.  During the "A" feature, hooked bumpers with the 27 car and got turned around and restarted from the rear and made a very strong run quickly back to 6th and got tagged and turned around coming out of turn 4 for the checkers, the scoring officials made the right call and credited the #6 car for 6th place, while the "offending car" got scored last.

6-08-04 - I-90 Speedway - Street Stock Nationals - Everything that could go wrong did. First heat, fuel pump went out; 2nd heat, had air lock in motor and it ran hot instantly and pulled it in; "A" feature, LR drive flange splines decided to become "unsplined".

6-06-04 - Husets Speedway - Street Stock - Won heat and third place in feature, led the first 10 laps of feature. Great run right on the rim.  With this third place finish, we are qualified for the $6750 purse Nordstroms race in Sept.  Only 12 cars will participate!

6-05-04 - Rapid Speedway - Won heat and second place in feature.

5-31-04 - Husets Speedway - Sportsman car, won heat and second in feature.  Street stock, 12th in feature, feeling out new car, good race.

5-30-04 - Husets Speedway - First nite in street stock, ran good, DNF in feature due to car spinning out in front and getting collected.

5-28-04 - Rock Rapids - Rained out!    5-29-04  Lake County - Rained out!

5-21-04 - Rock Rapids Speedway - RAINED OUT!   ***Husets also rained out the last two weeks in a row! Bummer!

5-14-04 - Rock Rapids Speedway - 9th in feature.  Tacky track again, need to change the car setup alot.  It will be better this week.

5-07-04 - Rock Rapids Speedway - 5th in feature, not a good run to say the least.  Track was all out tacky and went green to checkered with no cautions.  Try again next week.

4-30-04 - Rock Rapids Speedway - Won heat and feature!  Track was very dry, limited grip and bite anywhere.  Great side by side racing for several laps with the #11 car.

4-23-04 - Rock Rapids Speedway - Season Opener - Copied from the tracks website, "With three laps remaining in the sportsmen feature there was a four car battle for the top spot. Mel Elsberry had the lead and was running the bottom side with Nick Beyenhof to his outside. Anthony Mann and Rick Vander Weide were running just behind them making their bids for the lead. The battle took a different shape when Beyenhof looped his #11 in turn two collecting Mann and Vander Weide. That put Mann and Vander Weide to the rear of the field and Beyenhof to the infield with damage to his car."   Not much I can add, the car was awesome and contended for the win until it was collected in somebody else's crash due to their overdriving on a somewhat slick track.  Lots of damage and work to be done already.
